It is currently  12pm Sunday  we are on our way from PNG to Manila.  Just want to tell you about yesterday.   Being Saturday there were no schools to do, but Pastor Holmes and the church folk wanted to do some thing very special for us.    We were planning on first going to parlament, but they were closed.  We saw the place that Bro Brooks was mugged, we then went to a craft type market that sold PNG souvenirs at a much better price that the stores.      One thing I don't understand about PNG is the price of everything from gas to food to vehicles to everyday items. It is so high.   Anyways we were able to buy some gifts and then we headed over to the church where they had a special surprise for us.  They bought a live pig that they were going to cook us for supper.   They found out that I did not eat pork so they also bought a live chicken (which I told them not to - but that is always a futile cause according to Bro...
Our morning started off with group devotions, Josiah spoke on "our confidence need to be in God".    Just as we were leaving for the first school Bro  Brooks spoke to a school principal that was staying in Mapang and he told us that someone had burned down the boys dormatory and we're threatening to burn down the girls so they have cancelled school today.  This is PNG plans often change so we went to plan 2 a secondary school about 2 hours away.  But that school was also not able to do it today so we went to another school about 1/2 hour further.  We had a great time we sang Cameron and Ob gave their testimonies and Bro Brooks preached.    When we finished that school Bro Homes wanted to take us to the place that the first missionary came to PNG, James Chalmers back in the late 1800's.   From there we went to the beach area and looked for sea shells and coral on the beach.  It was there that one of the men from the area came to see ...
Today was an interesting day, we were up, showered, did personal devotions, had breakfast and then group devotions by  4:30am  then proceeded to the first school about 4-5 hours away.   That school was not ready so we went to the other vocational school in the same village.    Because of our timing many of the students were out doing practical, but there were still about 50 students and staff present. Bro Brooks opened, we sang and Ob gave his testimony then Josiah preached.  You could see conviction on their faces, it went really well.  After handing out the Bibles we went to the secondary school and did the same, this time Ben gave his testimony and Bro Brooks preached.   There were about 710 students and 45 staff there.  We then hung around for a while and talk to the students, signed Bibles and took photos.      After leaving that school we went down to the market to buy water. While there I got to witness to a number ...
Today started earlier, we had group devotions  at 5:45am this morning  and left for the first school. We arrived there  at about 8am .  The school had about 1200 students, after singing Cameron gave his testimony and Joe preached.  Joe did a great job, we handed out the Bibles, spent a little time there, many of the students wanted us to sign their Bibles.    We then went to the next school, it was a vocational school, their was about 160 students, Brown Brooks opened up and then we sang and Ben gave his testimony, I then preached and then we had the local church members hand out the Bibles.  We stuck around for a little while and then went back to Mapang.   We then went for lunch and then to Bro Homes church to stamp Bibles, after about 50 boxes of Bibles we went back to Mapang for a rest.   Church started at 6, Bro Homes did a Canadian theme service.  He had a video that he showed of him at Niagara Falls.  He had...

7th Day Adventist School & Bible Institute

Today we had a good day,  we left earlier this morning to get to a 7th day adventist school.  We were there  at about 8:30  but they were busy and could not accommodate us but said that we could have a pulic assembly  at 10:40am . So we hung out there as it was a  long way from anywhere and was on a bumpy gravel road.   They had a farm that we looked at and visited with some of the students that were not in class.  They finally called the assembly and we were able to start our presentation.   They sang some songs for us and then Bro Brooks began the presentation. We sang and Joe and I shared our testimonies. Bro Brooks preached and then we handed out Bibles.  We did not have another school so we hung around to mingle with the students.  Many wanted their Bibles signed and many of the students wanted their pictures with our young men.    Very good reception amongst students and staff.     We then went to the ...
Today we were hoping to do 3 schools but only ended up doing one.  It was a school up in the mountains that we could not do a previous time.    It rained while we presented but they had a hall that kept the rain off.    We handed out over 800 Bibles there.  The students were quite responsive.  We sang and Ob gave his testimony.      After that school we traveled to another school to discuss a time that we could come there. We just found out that we are going to be there  at 8am tomorrow .  It is a Seventh day adventist school, it looked pretty big.    Should be a good time.   This morning Ob did the group devotions and spoke on "keeping our zeel"  yesterday Calen did the group devotions and spoke on "our responsibility to glorify God"     Everyone seems to be doing well and having a good time.   Our desire is to do more schools but we are restricted to move at their pace. ...
Thank you for praying, I had a great time this morning preaching at Kidron Baptist Church.  They hold church in a classroom on the University campus.   What a sweet spirit in the church. Pastor Chris has a big heart is very tender. His wife passed away about 3 years ago, his children were active in church.  The church had great singing and you could tell they loved their pastor. They had about 60 in attendance.  I didnt know what to expect so I prepared for the worse and made adjustments as I went. I am not the greatest when it comes to timing my messages or shortening them without making a mess, but it worked out.  Bro Darling preached at Mt Carmel Baptist church, they had about 100 in attendance. He said that it went well. Our guys went with Bro Brooks to a village church an hour and half away, I think we are going to that area as they have 2 schools with approximately 1200 students.  The guys sang 6 songs at that church.  It is funny when...
This morning started as usual, plans changed, we were no longer invited into the main stage for the Deputy Prime minister as there were some local bands that wanted the honor.   Instead we went to the market/bus stop near the stage and when we got there, there was another person already preaching(Pentecostal).    We were going to let him finish up, but after about an hour pastor Nielish had enough and we started preaching in an area not to far from him. That did not seem to slow him down too much but he eventually left and the crowd gathered around us.  We sang a song and Bro Nielish preached, he preached with enthusiasm and vigor.    The gospel was given clearly, then we sang again and Ob and Cam gave a testimony.  It was great to see them speak with boldness as they told them how they got saved and how Jesus wanted them to get saved.  I then preached and then we sang another song along with the group from pastor Nielish church and then pastor H...
What a great day, started off with breakfast prsonal devotions then group devotions.  Joe did the devotions this morning and spoke on the effect of God's Word being sent out, it was a great encouragement.    We then went to the government administration building where we met the government people who are responsible for education.  After introductions Bro Brooks thanked them and then preached the gospel to them.  They were very receptive and then we gave them each a Bible.  Many of them wanted us to sign them which shows their interest and how special it is to them.   The head person Roma also is saved and attends Bro Nielish church.  He says that the group meets for prayer each Wednesday.   Yesterday while at one of the island schools we met one of the inspectors and he said it was great that we were giving out Bibles, what they need is a ciriculum that goes with it.  He said that they have been discussing that at headquarters. ...

Expedition Bible Delivery

Today was a special day as we had the privilege of going to some more remote islands by dinghies. We were supposed to meet them there  at 7am  but as usual hurry up and wait :) we had rented 2 dinghies and only one was there, but by  8:45am  we were on the water heading to our first school.   As usual it rained for part of the trip there but not too hard.  They guy we were traveling with said that because we are in the rainy season the water was much calmer.   Yet there were still waves probably 5 ft high.  These boats are like an open fiberglass boat about 18ft long.  We got to the first island  at about 10:30am , we brought the Bibles up to the meeting place and talked to the nun that was running the school.  It was a very Catholic school probably 100 female students.  We introduced ourselves, sang  and Bro Hunter preached a salvation message.   These kids/teachers/workers got salvation by grace alone, no works...

PNG Time

This morning started in the usual PNG way, the 4 that were supposed to go to the school up in the mountains waited for a couple hours then found out that the road was too bad and could not go.    We did a little shopping and then after lunch went to the Catholic school.  The school was quite large, we handed out about 850 Bibles.  We did our usual intruductions, both Ob and Joe gave their testimonies. Pastor Hunter preached a clear gospel message. If there was one thing that was clear it was "you Can know right now that you are going to heaven" the kids were very receptive and listened well. After that we came back.    The boys went swimming for a while in the ocean, we then had supper and then off to church.  We went to Bro Neilish church and Brother Hunter came with his church to join us. We also had some first time visitors.     We sang there and Bro Brooks preached.  We had some fellowship and  came back. ...

Milne Bay Province Schools

Here is a quick update. Today started as usual with devotions, we then got Bibles and went to a vocational school  at 10:30am  to deliver Bibles. It was a little smaller school maybe 120 students.  We then went back to the resort and  waited  until 1:45pm  to go the the next school.  The school was called Cameron secondary school so the kids were very excited when Cam introduced himself. That school had about 800 students.  We then checked out one of the schools that we are going to tomorrow and them back to the resort.  The boys went for a swim in the ocean while Bro. Tako, Brooks, and Darling fellowshiped.   The plan was for Joe, Cam, Ben, and Calen to leave with pastor Neilish to a school in the mountains  at 5:30am  but we just heard that has now changed to  8am .  Last night we had a meal at pastor Neilish church and today Bro Darling has been sick in bed all day.  Please pray that he gets better quickl...
