Milne Bay

Today we flew to the city of Alotou in the provence of Milon bay. It was about an hour flight with a twin prop plane.   When we got here we were greeted by the Deputy minister of education at the airport and pastor Nielish. We drove to the city about 15min from airport and checked into our place.  We were able to get a beatiful little resortish place that has an ocean view. It does not have A/C or showers but has a small restaurant and there own Wallabee.  The room we had has only screens on the windows so the breeze should help us sleep.  We went for a walk along the shore line and a local knocked down some coconuts for us.  While waiting for them to release the Bibles from the dock we went into the small village and did a little shopping.    By  4:30pm  they released the Bibles and we were able to deliver them to the two different churches that are involved in the distribution.   On the way back we stopped at a market to bu...

Sunday Services

Today was a more relaxing day. As usual we had our devotions in the morning. Ob had a great thought about being spent so that God can refill us and so we don't get stale.  We then went to Heritage Baptist church while Bro. Darling preached at another church.  The Sunday school started  at 9:30 - 10:15  then regular service  until 12pm . We had a 15 min break and then started the third service  until 2pm . Bro Brooks preached them all, we were challenged to live right to have a good life, then a salvation message, lastly a message on how to be great for God. There was an older woman that the church had been praying for that came forward for salvation.    There were about 80-100 there, was a great atmosphere, very friendly and giving.  Each of us were able to give a testament and sang before each service.  There were some guest that came to hear Bro Brooks preach, or was a local pastor from the Highlands named Paul. They were very enc...

Market Preaching and Youth Activity

We had a great day today, started off with personal devotions, breakfast and then group devotions. Calen let them this morning "being subject to God".  At 7:30am  we left for the market. At the market we met some other pastors and their church members, they setup a sound system and then did some hard preaching. Then we introduced ourselves and sang, and Bro. Brooks preached. After he preached all of us (probably 20) of us went through the market handing out tracts and witnessing. People were very receptive.    We then packed up and drove to another market and did the same thing.  After market preaching, handing out tracts we went to the mall and while there handed out some more tracts and had lunch and waited for the bus to bring us to Capital city Baptist church.    Capital city Baptist church had a youth day today where they preached to them, and then played games with them.    While handing out Bibles to schools in their neig...

Bibles to Schools and Meeting PNG's Top Rugby Team

What an incredible day, we started the day as usual having personal devotions, breakfast and then group devotions. Cameron lead the devotions and spoke of how God can and wants to use us no matter our background.  We then took Bro Chromey to the airport and drove to the first of three scheduled schools. The drive there was spectacular, driving up the mountain roads.  After arriving we found out that many of the kids had left for home for a long weekend (was a boarding school). So we went to the second school.  This one would have been the most prestigious secondary school in the country. They told us to come back  at 1pm .  So we went had lunch and then came back, because school here  ends at 2:30pm  Bro. Brooks decided to split up the group.   Bro. Darling, Cam and Josiah along with a team of local church people went to the school, where Josiah conducted the program, he had Bro. Robin preach and then they handed out the Bibles. That school wo...

Shipping Bibles and Rugby Inroads

Just a quick update of today.  We were up early this morning doing personal devotions and getting ready, then we had breakfast and Josiah lead a group devotional.   From there we went out to pay for shipping some Bibles by boat to another island and then to Capital Baptist church and waited on the Bibles.  As Bro. Brooks would say PNG is hurry up and wait.  After that we went to a school near the church and they got the students together and Bro Brooks opened it, we introduced ourselves and Ob and Calen gave a testimony and then we sang. Pastor Matt preached and then  we handed out Bibles. We did not have another school lined up so we spent a little more time talking to the kids, getting pictures etc.   After that we went to town to deal with shipping issues, while there Bro Darling and I went to a place where they were selling beetlenut/cigarette etc under some trees and handed out tracts and witnessed and Bro Darling street preached there. The people ...

Passing Out Bibles

On Tuesday morning  July 25th I got to the airport and was met by the whole crew Bro Brooks, and all the GPBC guys, Bro Dick Chromy and Bro Darling. We proceeded straight to the first school. They said the school had 2000+ kids. When we got there we unloaded and waited for them to assemble all the kids. Most of the kids were able to get into the building tightly seated on the floor. The principle opened up the session, then Bro. Brooks explained the project followed by a local pastor Matt who preached to the kids for about 15min we then sang and  handed out Bibles to the kids plus a church bookmark and they were invited to the youth activity on Saturday.    The kids were enagged and focused on what was going on. Even though there were so many they paid attention and were happy about getting the Bibles.  After that we went to another school. There were about 1400 kids at this school.  Unfortunately they had double booked us and had it not been for b...

Landed Safe in PNG

Landed safe in PNG We were taken from the airport directly to Capitol City Baptist Church where we enjoyed the morning service.  We got settled into our place here which is a shared missionary compound. It seems like we will be here for the next few days. We went to Morata Baptist church for the evening service. They are having a missions conference going on right now and the 5 of us guys sang a special at it. Today is PNG's Memorial Day so we will be taking in a few of the nearby sights today. There are still some issues getting the remaining Bibles released from the port. Things seemed to run slow in Fiji but Bro Brooks said things run even slower in PNG Please pray that the Bibles get released quickly and that Bro Brooks will be able to get all of the storage fees waived as well.If you remember for Fiji they had to pay around $47,000 to get the Bibles out of storage , but it sounds like we don't have to do anything like that for PNG. If things go as planned w...
